A first sight of the cover of my forthcoming novel: Star Trek: Typhon Pact – Brinkmanship.
Available to pre-order at Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk!
An all-new novel set in the universe of Star Trek: The Next Generation, in which tensions escalate between two powerful forces in interstellar space.
The Venette Convention has always remained independent, but it is about to become the flashpoint for a tense military standoff between the two power blocks now dominating interstellar space—the United Federation of Planets and the recently formed Typhon Pact. The Venetan government turns to the Typhon Pact’s Tzenkethi Coalition for protection in the new order and has agreed to allow three of their supply bases for Tzenkethi use. But these bases—if militarized—would put Tzenkethi weapons unacceptably close to Federation, Cardassian, and Ferengi space. While Captain Ezri Dax and the crew of the U.S.S. Aventine are sent to investigate exactly what is happening at one of the Venette bases, Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the U.S.S. Enterprise are assigned to a diplomatic mission in order to broker a mutually acceptable resolution. But the Cardassian delegates don’t seem particularly keen on using diplomacy to resolve the situation, which soon spirals out of control toward all-out war….
Long, long ago pre-ordered! I’m looking forward to this: the Typhon Pact notion is getting me hooked back into the series. I’ve always read a few a year but it’s not since the DS9 relaunch that I was pre-ordering every one.
Splendid! I thoroughly approve of your state of preorderedness. The Typhon Pact idea is a great hook, and I hope you enjoy the series!
I’m just reading the preceding novel to Brinkmanship, Raise the Dawn with tears in my eyes! I don’t want to spoil what’s happening in the world of DS9 for other readers. But you must have known for sometime before you started writing your book?
All your trek books have been marvelous by the way. I commute from Hitchin to Kings Cross everyday, and pocket books trek has been my lifeline for years! I read you’re from the area – often wondered if you’d spot me reading on of your books – keep up the great work!
Hi Mike! Thank you so much for dropping by and for your kind comments. (I have indeed read Raise the Dawn.)
Delighted to think of you reading these books on the KX train! I am slightly further up the line, in Cambridge, but know the stops well. If you have read The Never-Ending Sacrifice, you might recognise some of the town names on Ithic towards the end of the book (Manea, Littleport…).
Una
Hi Una
I didn’t realise that! That is brilliant – I feel like I’m living on a Cardassian colony world now. I’m pretty sure North Hertfordshire is crawling in Obsidian Order operatives at any rate.
The Never Ending Sacrifice is a brilliant work – It must have one of the best last-lines-to a-first-chapter ever! I absolutely beamed at the witty reference. Seriously hope there’ll be much more Cardassian skullduggery from yourself.
Mike
Now I know why I always feel safer sitting in a corner seat on the Cambridge Cruiser!
Thank you for the kind words about TNES. You’re the first person to mention the end of chapter 1 to me! I know I certainly enjoyed writing that bit! I’d love to do more Cardassian skullduggery one day.
Una

Hi Matt! Glad you found my website. I had a smashing time at the Tolkien Bash too and it was really good to meet you and talk to you. Hope you’re going to work on some more dragons. Do you have a website or blog too? Stay in touch!
no dont have a web sight but ime on skype,at duneclift.flyers.And on facebook,
under Matthew Kenneth Baker.I was very pleased to meet you, its wonderfulle to meet peaple who wander the paths of the mind, and make of them stories.I walk my siberian husky LUNA,in the highh woods above lagollen ,often we are alone, and I am very comfortable,as I was wandering the tall cliffs of the Isle of man with my old Labrador .thiers such beauty and peace in the world.I just have to remember to be open to it and revel in its wonder,in the parachute regiment I could not speak of the light on a far valley,or on the wonder of trees spring colours. Its hard to be a little differant ,to go exploring the world with none to turn too to pass on your joy.And empathy is a curse and a gift. But ime lucky thier are still peaple who are my friends, who dont mind my mad theatricality, ludicrous energy and odd take on the world,I thought Dwarf olypics was funny but thats me ,its not correct (politicaly) but I could see a story book with Dwarfs trying thier damdest to do the pole vault, amongst other things. Matt
Miss McCormack!
I hope you don’t mind me contacting you this way but after a clumsy afternoon of trying to find an email address through which to contact you this is my only remaining avenue.
I am currently working for Priority One. A podcast on Trek Radio and growing fan site born out of the Star Trek Online Community.
After the release of Brinkmanship I intend on reviewing it for P1 and was wondering if you might be open to sharing your thoughts and answering a few questions for and from our audience? We would also love to discuss featuring you in one of our ‘Trek It Out’ Podcasts.
If you would be amenable to any of this, or even just a brief email Q&A about Brinkmanship I would love to hear from you.
My email is declanjgreene@yahoo.co.uk
on a personal note I would just like to ad that The Never Ending Sacrifice is one of my favourite books of all time. Beautifully crafted and the ending was just perfect!
Hope to hear from you soon!
Respectfully
Declan J Greene
