These are the notes I made in advance of the BSFA/SFF panel. The discussion went off in other and equally interesting directions, but I thought these notes might be of interest anyway. How might we be using the term ‘literary’? One might be synonymous with ‘quality’: what makes ‘good’ television according to some general standard [...]

London, Weekend, Television

As previously mentioned on this journal, I had an early morning panel in London on Saturday, at the BSFA/SFF AGM and minicon. We also had theatre tickets on the Friday night, so we decided to bunk off on Friday and do the tourist thing in Our Nation’s Capital. Our hotel was in Westminster, so we [...]

Possibly reading from my short story, “The Great Gig in the Sky”, from the anthology Subterfuge, certainly talking a little about it. Come and say hello if you see me!

“Does the Future of SF Lie in Media other than Traditional Literature?” was the title of a panel I spoke on at NewCon, alongside Paul Cornell, John Jarrold, Steve Longworth, and Dave Hutchinson. I was assured by a friend in the audience that I was witty, erudite, and profoundly insightful but, given that poor acoustics [...]

Life after television

I’m knackered, but I’m fairly certain it’s the good “I’ve been busy” kind of knackered, rather than the “woe, existence saps the very soul from me” kind of knackered. Having said that, there comes a point for every introvert where she has to nail the door shut and seal herself into her chamber of solitude [...]
